Trimble EZ-Guide 500 in-cab monitor

The display acts as a direction indicator ensuring the tractor maintains the correct swath width.

George Fuller of North Buckinghamshire initially purchased a Trimble EZ-Guide 500 to use for pre-emergence spraying and spreading. He has since upgraded it to use with an EZ-Steer and integrated it with his fertiliser spreader in order to carry out Variable Rate Applications. Here is what he had to say about his experience:

“The ease of use and flexibility of Trimble’s EZ-Guide 500 has completely banished my initial scepticism of the technology.

“I first used the EZ-Guide 500 three years ago when I thought it was going to be a bit of a luxury.  Since then I’ve realised the enormous benefits in improving accuracy of operations, reducing waste and lowering costs.  I’ve expanded its use across a range of field operations and have just upgraded to an EZ-Steer this autumn.

“We’re a 500 ha mixed farm, with a range of combinable crops and grassland.  I use the EZ-Guide 500 for slug-pelleting and pre-emergence sprays, to improve accuracy of cultivations and for variable rate fertiliser applications.  I’ve even used it for sowing grass.

“The large colourful screen is easy to use and to follow in the field, compared to competitor products I’ve tried in the past.  A major advantage of Trimble is that you can upgrade and change the technology to suit your needs with excellent advice from AS Communications guiding you along with way.  Trimble is a large well-established brand, and I’m confident that the kit will never become obsolete as they continually invest in producing new and innovative products and services”.
